Strategies for Active & Collaborative Learning

Active learning involves putting students at the center of instruction, providing opportunities to solve, explore, experiment, try, create, and invent. Collaborative learning is inherently active as it requires interaction to problem solve, practice skills, or produce work together in organized ways. This session provides experience in practical, adaptable strategies that can be implemented across all ages and disciplines. Educators will leave equipped with actionable techniques to cultivate dynamic, interactive learning environments for all. For participants who attended this session last summer, new strategies will be introduced and experienced.

In this session, you will:
  • Review the principles and benefits of active and collaborative learning.
  • Engage in multiple active strategies and protocols that can be used in any lesson or context to make learning joyful.
  • Plan for active and collaborative strategies that can be used to better respond to student learning needs.
